GRAND STRATEGY - PROLOGUE

I was born in
Shanghai, China on the 22nd of August in 1982. My father was an artist and a traditional picture-mounting artisan, who had a tremendous influence upon my upbringing. My mother worked in a textile factory at the time and had also been very kind and caring. Both of my paternal grandparents were veteran cadres of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since the 1930's, who had received a respectable pension, benefits, and residents from the Chinese government. Our livelihood was comparatively above average in Chinese standard of that time. Due to the relative comfort my family provided, I had a happy and carefree childhood in which I had discovered one of my most enduring passions, namely, Art. My life was transformed on the 9th of December in 1994 when my father immigrated to New York with my mother and me upon the resolution to leave China for once and all, which brought him only too much of frustrations and sorrow. The direct impetus of which was due to his intimate friendship with the staffs and consul generals from the U.S. consulate in Shanghai, and this association had come under the attention and ultimately the investigation from the Chinese State Security Bureau. According to my father, who had an enduring experience and knowledge of the CCP, one does not wish to have anything to do with the Chinese State Security Bureau, because in his own words, “the CCP was capable of doing anything to you”. Since then, I have been living in New York as a member of the oversea Chinese Diaspora, and possibly as a consequence of this, in addition to my own poignant inquisitive disposition, I have been captivated, puzzled, troubled, bewildered, overwhelmed, and obsessed with the subject of Chinese civilization and her destiny ever since.

I have attended the
Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts in New York. In my senior year there I have received a full-tuition scholarship from the celebrated American comedian Jerry Seinfeld, which assisted me to attend a small private art college in Manhattan, the School of Visual Arts. I majored in the department of Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelorship of Fine Arts in 2004. I have to say that the problem of politics in China has never become a major subject of concerns until my adulthood; notwithstanding her culture and history have always been one of my favorite preoccupations. On the other hand, the ruling CCP has always been an object of enmity and distaste as simply a self evident matter-of-fact to me. Although I have always been fond of reading, I have never consciously sought a literary profession, nor a political career, and I have always deem myself primarily as an artist. I am not a member of the academia, nor do I have received any formal academic training in the field of sinology, philosophy, and political science. I was turned down for my application to the master program in Global Affairs from New York University, due to, my speculations are, lack of credentials and irrelevant background. Everything contained in this treatise is purely a produce of my years of research, reflection, and deliberation. This is not a conventional academic discourse, nor was it intended to be, it is only a manifestation of postmodern bloggers' age of the 21st century, and simply a transcript of voir dire, because there came a time in my formative years of adulthood in which I simply felt like putting down my thoughts in the form of writing, after years of the identical activity in the form of painting.

The history of modern China has stirred up much heated debate for over a century, and it has continued to generate heated polemics and often controversial arguments regarding her future course. Being her native son, no matter where I am and what type of creed and faith I uphold, I have found that the fate and destiny of China and that of myself to be inalienable and inseparable. Hence, I have come to discover a profound reckoning that the well-being of China is to be interwoven with mine and that her welfare and prosperity are to be solely determined and contributed by her beloved children, and I am proud to pronounce myself as one amidst them. For this I am truly a Chinese nationalist.

It is in my opinion that I have found myself to be an extremely fortunate soul besides most of my fellow compatriots due to the fact that not only am I residing in the United States, which provided me with the freedom of information at my disposal, but also because I have come to the complete disillusionment with the contemporary society of China with regard to both its physical as well as its spiritual outlook. Therefore, in order to redeem China, the essence of my thesis and the aspiration of my life are inevitably to be an emphatic renouncement of that physical entity established and ruled by the CCP known as the People's Republic of China (PRC). In turn, I am resolved to devote my whole energy in the sincere hope for the establishment of a new Chinese commonwealth, which will be known to the world as the Federal Republic of China, symbolized by its emblematic national flag—the Five Color Flag.

If one resides in the free world and has access to unbiased and pluralistic information regarding China, it isn’t hard for him to come to the reckoning that everything being taught and propagated within Communist China are nothing but lies and propaganda. Since my treatise is not entirely devoted to the detailed enumeration and exposition of all CCP treachery, considered there are numerous more sophisticated and professional scholars who had already written far more extensively on this subject, I am only here attempting to draw a synthesis and thus trying to seek a solution to this “China Problem”.

With the advent of the CCP entering into the global arena since the end of the 70’s in the last century, that is, after that catastrophic Maoist era (circa 1949 - 1979), the CCP has shape-shifted itself into a more adaptable organism. Ostensibly, it offers a friendly gesture to the world attracting popular tourism and financial investment. With the opening of the 2008 Olympic Game in Beijing, China has attired herself flamboyantly in order to entice a throng of gentlemen from all over the world. However, if one is to have a more enduring relationship and a more intimate experience with her, one finds that everything graceful and elegant about her is nothing but a smokescreen. She is capable of turning back and forth between a virgin damsel and a ferocious Medusa. The facade that the monster puts on is only to veil the fact that one billion hard working innocent civilians are still under its arbitrary subjugation. Worse of all is that one finds himself in a quagmire engulfed by germs, bacteria, and vile elements which are vicious enough not only to corrupt the environment, but one's own spirit. The CCP has become an ulcer to China, the ever-prescient Orwellian prophecy has realized itself once again in modern China.

If one considers himself to be an upright and virtuous individual who has a genuine concern over the well-being of his motherland, he unquestionably has obliged himself with the duty to diagnose the ills that's poisoning his country and corrupting the spirit of his fellow countrymen. This is what's precisely happening in China today. After more than three generations of CCP’s indoctrination and assimilation, many Chinese today are irrationally chauvinistic under the banner of CCP propaganda; they are spiritually hollow and materialistic, many of whom are utterly authoritarian, apathetic, hypocritical, and devoid of compassion and moral responsibility. It isn’t hard for one to see, after staying in China for a short period of time that the moral landscape of China is bleak, and the social landscape a pessimistic plight. The only viable mechanism which is still left functioning and holding society together is greed and vanity. The dictatorial government who ordered tanks and machine guns to mow down peaceful student and civilian demonstrators, the despotic regime who isn’t inhibited in the least to use force against its citizens who appeal for their civil rights, and the blood-sucking oligarchy whose sole purpose is to exploit its subject and fetter them from their minutest craving for freedom and justice, is the one who possesses the exclusive rulership in China today.

Any vain wishes that the CCP will reform itself and come up with a class of “enlightened cadres” had proven to be a complete whimsical daydream. History has taught us hard-earned lessons from Liu Shaoqi to Hu Yaobang, and Zhao Ziyang, that the hardliners of the CCP will never concede the least if one is attempting to reform its core principle, to wit, absolute and exclusive dictatorship. I therefore proclaim that the CCP is not only the enemy of
China, but a bastion of militants and bigots which poses an enduring inimical threat to the Free World. To be rid of its tyranny and the complete destruction of its existence such as the demise of the U.S.S.R. is not only in the best interest of the Chinese people, but a critical strategic benefit for the entire international community. In accordance with this position, I call upon all freedom-loving people to utilize any power and resources at one’s disposal to denounce the CCP and petition for the establishment of a new federal republican China.

I pronounce myself to be a Chinese federalist whose occupation is to inherit the essence and spirits from those forerunners of Chinese republicanism such as Dr. Sun Yat Sen and his comrades. Even though democracy has taken a stronghold in the island of Taiwan, a free and democratic China has yet to be realized after a hundred years of struggle for freedom and civil liberty. Therefore, it is imperative for every patriotic person to come to the revelation that the subversion of CCP to be a priority for all aspiring and freedom loving individual to partake in by any means necessary, it is for this sacred Cause that we shall all strive for the prosperity of our beloved civilization and the well-being of our posterity. I thus dedicate the following discourse in the hope to inspire my friends and comrades, and may its elucidation not only shed some light to my own intellectual disposition and spiritual character, but more importantly, contribute to the enterprise for the ultimate liberation of China.

Yours faithfully,

Translations:

The Federalists are heralding a new movement of "Chinese Right-wing Revisionist National Resurgence", which is based on the trinity of the following three fundamental canons:

1: "Chinese neo-rightists". That is, advocate of a new school of ideology which combines the Western conservative right and the Chinese traditional elements.

-Western conservative right is the inheritors and propagators of the principles of classic libertarianism and the preeminence of Human Rights.

-Chinese traditional elements consist of the inheritance and refinement of the comprehensive legacy of Chinese cultural essence.

2: "Revisionism". That is to revise all of the wrong historicism, values, and world-views fostered under the Communist system, and resolved to undermine the fortress of Communist ideology.

- Educate and rectify so that a righteous and objective historic view, a humanist value system, and the world-view based on Freedom and Democracy could be taken roots in China.

- Liberate people's mind and encourage the individuals' own ability of adjudication and creativity, and to reckon that the overpowering trend of globalization as the realization of a Free World.

3: "National Resurgence". That is undertaking the above two doctrines simultaneously, in order to reach an authentic "resurgence". "National Resurgence" is based on the following two abiding principles:

- That it is coherent with all standards of contemporary advanced civilizations.

- That it is built on a firm and strong national confidence.
